What motivates someone to study catechetics over other possible specializations? Beyond institutional directives or requirements that might lead a priest, a consecrated person, or a layperson to pursue this curriculum, it remains a fact that, when considering the end profile, an academic path in catechetics is not among the most sought-after or widely recognized as one of the most "prestigious".
Reflecting on the seventy years of the ICa's existence and the two decades from 2000 to 2020, a recent effort sought to gauge alumni's perception of their acquired competence to redefine the catechetics curriculum in its three dimensions (Catechetics, Religious Education, Catechetics, and Communication). In 2018, the volume Studying Catechetics Today: the UPS proposal was published by LAS on the ICa's academic training project, the result of shared research by several faculty members.
The study seminar, organized by the Institute of Catechetics (ICa) within the Faculty of Educational Sciences, will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM in the Juan Vecchi Hall of the University, with the possibility of participating both in person and online. The event aims to compare research published in the second issue of 2024 in the online journal Catechetics and Education with the volume written six years earlier, to evaluate the current situation and reinvigorate reflection on the catechetics curriculum. Additionally, possible continuous training paths for former students will be explored.
