Teologia per la missione oggi: costanti nel contesto offers a broad and deep perspective on mission for the 21st century. The two missiologists, Stephen Bevans and Roger Schroeder, through an innovative historical-theological methodology, lead to the realization that the Church is born from mission and is shaped by its faithfulness to it.
The work is divided into three parts and represents one of the most important and comprehensive reflections in the field of contemporary missionary theology. First published in 2004, it remains a fundamental read for those interested in understanding Christian mission in today's context, characterized by global challenges and cultural interconnections.
The first part of the volume sets out the biblical and theological foundations of mission. The second part identifies constants in context, describing historical models of mission from the early Church to the 20th century with the emergence of global Christianity. The third part draws conclusions by illustrating a theology for mission today: mission as participation in the mission of the Triune God; mission as liberating service of the Kingdom of God; mission as the proclamation of Jesus Christ, universal savior; mission as prophetic dialogue.
The meeting is part of the Theological Readings series and will be held in the Juan Vecchi Hall of the Pontifical Salesian University on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 12:15 PM. It will be coordinated by Prof. Samuel Komlanvi Amaglo, professor of Missiology at the Faculty of Theology.
