On April 5, 2025, as part of the #unknownRome initiative promoted by the University Pastoral Ministry, there will be a Visit to the Quirinale Palace (with a meeting point at the obelisk in front), one of the most important places in Italian political and institutional history.

The #unknownRome events aim to showcase Rome from a different perspective, discovering sites less frequented by tourists and exploring the history and culture of the capital. Each event in the series represents an interesting experience of visiting and reflecting.

The Quirinal Palace: history and importance

Located on the Quirinale Hill, one of the seven hills of Rome, the Quirinal Palace is the official residence of the President of the Italian Republic. Besides being the seat of the Presidency, it has a history that dates back to the papal era, specifically to 1583, when Pope Gregory XIII built the first nucleus of the building. Over the centuries, the palace has been expanded and transformed, passing under papal control, then becoming the residence of the kings of Italy, and finally the presidents of the Republic. Among the most prestigious rooms in the structure are the Hall of Tapestries, the Hall of Flags, and the Pauline Chapel.

The visit will offer an opportunity to immerse not only in the art and architecture that characterize the Palace, but also to understand the role it has played in Italian history, as a symbol of the Republic and a venue for important institutional events.

The Quirinale, with its strong symbolic value, is not only a representative of power but also a reference point for commitment to the community and the common good, values that are deeply intertwined with Christian principles and contemporary challenges.

Participation in the event is free and open to everyone, by registering through the appropriate link (the registration form will be closed 10 days before the visit).
