As part of the calendar planned for the Jubilee year by the Pontifical Salesian University, the Faculty of Theology, led by Dean Prof. Sahayadas Fernando SdB, has organized a Study Seminar – The Jubilee and History. Echoes of the Press in the "Don Bosco" Library – which will be held on February 20, 2025, from 3 PM, in the "Juan Vecchi" Hall of the prestigious academic institution.
The initiative, following the exhibition inaugurated on December 4 on The Jubilee in the Documents of the "Don Bosco" Library between the 19th and 20th centuries, aims to continue deepening and enhancing, from various interpretative perspectives, the valuable heritage – archival, bibliographic, testimonial – preserved among the shelves and racks of the paper collection.
With the patronage of the Italian Association of Church History Professors, during the Seminar, moderated by Prof. Hendry Selvaraj Dominic, after the institutional greetings, the following will intervene: Prof. Angelo Giuseppe Dibisceglia (The Jubilee: the Church's Reflection in History), Prof. Elena Massimi (Aperite mihi portas iustitiæ (Ps 117:19): the opening and closing rites of the Holy Door in history), Dr. Raffaella Stirati (The Jubilee in the "Don Bosco" Library Collections), Prof. Paolo Vaschetto (The Jubilee of 1875. Its Institution and Devotional Practices for the Church Visits by St. Giovanni Bosco).
The debate will precede the conclusions, entrusted to Prof. Thiago Barros Nunes, and the guided visit to the paper materials preserved in the bibliographic center: "The Holy Year 2025 – writes Pope Francis in the Spes non confundit, the bull of indiction of the Jubilee – continues in the continuity of previous events of grace. (…) Now the time has come for a new Jubilee, in which the Holy Door will once again be opened to offer the living experience of God's love, which inspires in the heart the certain hope of salvation in Christ".
