The Pontifical Salesian University, through the Institute of Vocational Pedagogy of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Formation Dicastery of the Salesian Congregation, promotes an annual permanent training course for vocational trainers of consecrated life, diocesan clergy, and community animators.
The course was born from the need to respond to the necessity of requalification in consecrated life and diocesan clergy. Its purpose is to offer integral, spiritual, and pedagogical training to those who are committed and work in this field.
The course delves into the spiritual, biblical-theological, anthropological, ecclesial-charismatic, and pedagogical-experiential dimensions in an interdisciplinary logic that explores spiritual, theological, and anthropological aspects in light of vocational becoming.
Objectives
- Pedagogically requalify trainers for consecrated life and diocesan life
- Reflect on the accompaniment of vocations
- Know oneself for authentic spiritual and pedagogical renewal
- Review the initial and seminary training path in light of new documents
- Build a path of permanent training and pedagogical suitability for those who are already trainers and wish to update their preparation

Themes and topics
- Spiritual dimension: experience of life in the Spirit to initiate personal growth, development of prayer life, sacramental and liturgical life
- Biblical/theological dimension: magisterium and consecrated life, presbyteral life, study of vocation and its discernment, reflection on the ministry of consecrated life and presbyteral life in the Church
- Anthropological dimension (psycho-sociological-cultural): today's cultural challenges to vocation, sociological knowledge of the youth world, psychological and sociological approach to vocation, psychology of formation, problems of crisis situations and related accompaniment
- Ecclesial/charismatic dimension: the states of life of the christian, charisms and ecclesial communion, relational life and experience of fraternal and community life, presbyteral life, consecrated life and local church, mission of the church and inculturation, integration of one's life in overall pastoral care and in the territory
- Pedagogical/experiential dimension: work of review and accompaniment of one's life, lessons, group work, research, seminars, methods and means of formation, the trainer and the training team, ratio formationis at various levels, personal accompaniment and training dialogue, step-by-step training itineraries.
Methodology
It is planned:
- The unified and continuous connection of contents, openness to interdisciplinarity, and attention to pedagogical and methodological aspects of vocational training, connected with theological, spiritual, anthropological, and pedagogical contents of identity and vocational becoming
- Systematic lessons, seminars, round tables, study and research groups
- Visits to institutions, parishes, centers of interest related to the course, and significant experiences
- Organized times for personal, spiritual, psychological renewal and community prayer
- Week of residential cohabitation
