To enhance the culture of giving, reciprocity, trust, and solidarity, the University promotes various opportunities to experience volunteering and/or generate social impact initiatives. Participating in these initiatives during your studies helps to stimulate and enhance your relational skills and exercise active citizenship.
Ongoing initiatives
- Solidarity tuesday: twice a month at the Don Bosco Club, from 1:45 PM to 3:00 PM, participants gather to share their experiences in various volunteer groups and have a moment of training. The symbolic value and relational impact of these moments are well described in the testimonies of those who already participate.
- Italian language assistance: italian conversation offered to non-italian students who request help at the civil service offices.
- Volunteering at Sacro Cuore: a group of volunteers meets every Friday evening, from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (via Marsala) to prepare and distribute bread, pizza, sweets, and tea to the homeless in five areas around Termini Station. The main goal is to establish meaningful dialogues and relationships. Read the stories of those who already collaborate in this workshop.
- Volunteering at Casa Famiglia (Centro Astalli) near Nuovo Salario Station: the activity involves helping with homework and accompanying mother/child pairs living in the Casa Famiglia.
- Ammaeima: volunteering activities such as listening and helping patients admitted and discharged from Umberto I Hospital.
- Experience with the “Nuovi Orizzonti” volunteer Association: offering listening, once a month, to homeless people near Termini Station and the colonnade of St. Peter’s. Meetings and periodic courses throughout the year with other young people who volunteer full-time at the Association’s communities.
