This module aims and providing learners with the skills needed to successfully complete the Research Module described below.

The module in Research Methodology in Academic and Pastoral Contexts helps learners to become familiar with current concerns and issues in ministry and to develop effective strategies to collect and analyse information on pastoral issues and to develop responses and interventions. It will help them to recognise the importance of method in academic and pastoral contexts. It will show how religious ministry relies on research and responds to human needs arising from particular contexts. Students will be taught and instructed through practical methods how to collect and analyse data about human experience and needs using the methods of the human sciences. They will be helped to develop skills in the method of constructing theoretical-coherent frameworks within which academic, religious and theological judgements can be made.
