The course introduces the students to the science of Ecclesiastical Law. It begins with a discussion of the general concepts of law, the fonts and sources of Church law, and the development of canon law from the foundational years of the Church until the first codification of 1917, its subsequent 1983 revision, and the promulgation of the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches. It then continues with a systematic study of General Norms, Book I of the 1983 Code of Canon Law.

General Decrees, Administrative Acts, Statutes and Ordinances. Learning Outcomes: - The students acquire a general and practical knowledge of the Code of Canon Law, particularly Book I, General Norms. - They appreciate and value the importance of Church Law and its faithful observance. - They engage in pastoral ministry guided by the dispositions and the spirit of the Code.
