At the end of the course, the student would have acquired a basic knowledge of liturgy in its relationship with the History of salvation and according to the Reform introduced by Vatican II. This knowledge should help the student to deepen a liturgical spirituality and to properly animate liturgical celebrations for his own religious community and for parishes.


Liturgy as an action of the Holy Trinity in the history of salvation. 1. Liturgical action: Who celebrates: different celebrants. How to celebrate: signs and symbols, words and actions, music and singing. When to celebrate: liturgical year and liturgy of hours. Where to celebrate? Church, altar, tabernacle, pulpit…. 2. Liturgical diversity and unity of mystery. Genesis and development of different liturgies in East and West.
